The Indianola Post Office is one of 932 post offices in the state of Iowa. All of these post offices work under one district, with offices in Des Moines. This district is known as the Hawkeye District and we are managed by Jolene Baxa (515-251-2100). The Hawkeye District post offices are split into areas, and Indianola is in area 4, managed by Mike Bowen (515-251-2114). The postmaster is Jim Stordahl (515-961-6236), and the supervisor is Mike Durell (515-961-6235). We have 9 city letter carrier routes with a partial 4-hour route called an auxiliary route, due to growth in the city. We also have five rural routes, with a two-hour auxiliary filling quickly with rural growth. There are currently 29 employees working at the Indianola post office.

These are two of the long life vehicles (LLV's) that our nine city letter carriers now drive. Tested for two years, these vehicles are more comfortable and safer to operate. They also hold more mail.
